Someone with a Xango site posted about a recent trip to Niagara Falls:
Even from over a kilometre away, we could feel the mists generated by such a thundering natural wonder. With over 168,000 cubic metres of water cascading down fifty-three metres of freefall every minute, the resulting roar can be heard even further away. For significant periods of time the resulting mist is so excessive that the falls are obscured completely, creating an eerie singular cloud of white, grumbling like a giant hungry beast.

As regular visitor Adam pointed out, the Niagara Falls Doubletree has changed their name. It used to be:
Doubletree Resort Lodge & Spa Fallsview
It is now:
Doubletree Fallsview Resort & Spa by Hilton
I contacted the Doubletree to get the scoop and this is what I found out. The addition of the “by Hilton” at the end was done by the brand. Apparently all Hilton Family Hotels outside of the US now have that in their name. As for removing the “Lodge” portion, it wasn’t mandated, but it was suggested. They found that too few people understood Lodge and that tipped the scale to Resort. However they still are promoting the “architectural elements” of the hotel.
Personally, I think the “by Hilton” is clunky, but I like the main part of the name. “Resort & Spa” seems to flow better than “Resort Lodge & Spa” (it seemed redundant). On the other hand, I guess it’s unfortunate that the word Lodge is gone, as people won’t be able to tell right away how beautiful the hotel really is. As I wrote before, it is absolutely gorgeous, and the lobby/atrium definitely feels like a lodge.
From the Niagara Falls Review:
The thrills and chills became all too real at Screamers Monday, when a little girl’s heart stopped following a seizure at the Victoria Avenue fright factory.
“I knew something was wrong when the lights came on because they never do that,” said employee Tyler Woodhouse, who was escorting a different group through the maze when the girl went into distress. “When I got there, she was on the ground and had no vital signs. I just took control of the situation and began doing CPR.”
The incident happened around 5 p. m., when the girl -identified only as “Amanda” was going through the house of horrors with her father.
The 24-year-old said the girl -who appeared to be between 10 and 12 - was at a “pretty intense spot” near the end of the maze when she had the seizure.
Staff are accustomed to hearing screams, he said, but hearing Amanda’s father call for help was something different.
From Hotel Business Magazine:

Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a recent trip to Niagara Falls (with some nice pictures):
On Thursday, Maggie and Stuart read as part of the Virus Readings series, in the Book Nook at 4555 Queen St, Niagara Falls. Stuart’s friend Heather and I came along, and we made a day trip out of it…
Now, Niagara Falls is the kind of town where there are a lot of tourist attractions of dubious interest, with long lineups and inflated ticket prices. The Butterfly Conservatory, on the other hand, is totally worth your 12 bucks.
