Great big gingerbread house at Great Wolf Lodge

From Niagara This Week:

There’s a new little sugar shack open in the Falls that may just be the first restaurant where the walls taste just as good as the food on the plates.

The Great Wolf Lodge unveiled a giant gingerbread house in its lobby last week as a spot a family of six can enjoy dinner together and help raise money for charity. Michael Smith, who runs the food and beverage department, created the 96-square-foot gingerbread bungalow with three bakers with the hopes of raising around $6,000 by January. Remarkably, it’s the fourth giant gingerbread house Smith has built.

Smith owned a popular restaurant in Port Colborne for many years back in the late 80s, early 90s. It was called 2 Chefs. He built the huge gingerbread houses back then … well before Disney ever did.

Disney does a great job on their houses, for sure - but the one at the Great Wolf tops the Disney ones because, unlike Disney, families can go inside and eat dinner in this one. I went to check this latest one out and it really is amazing and cleverly done, with a TON of candy and icing decorations.
