Niagara Parks White Water Walk in Autumn 2007

We’ve had a bit of snow here lately, so before it actually becomes winter, I figured I’d post one of my last Autumn 2007 picture galleries and video. In the middle of October my wife and I went to a couple of the Niagara Parks attractions. We went to the Journey Behind the Falls (which I’ll post about soon) and to the White Water Walk. I don’t think I’ve ever been there before. It was very nice. The Autumn leaves were colourful and the water was amazing. It’s hard to believe that there are people who have tried to ride the rapids.

To get to the walkways, you actually have to go into a small gift shop along the side of the road, and inside the gift shop is an old elevator. It takes you down a few stories to the bottom of the cliff. You then have to walk down a long tunnel (that is the first picture) and then you come out on a platform right where the rapids start. If you look up-river, you can see the water is very calm, and then very quickly it gets very choppy.

There are several viewing platforms along the way where you can stop and take some nice pictures. The only complaint I have about the walk, was about halfway along the smell was terrible. Apparently there is some sort of water runoff from storm drains that can’t be emptied into the river, and you can smell it. It’s awful! I was told that whether or not you smell it depends on the weather (rain, heat, etc).

I took some pictures while I was there. As is always the case, you can see some of the thumbnails below, and view all of the thumbnails and larger pictures in the White Water Walk in Autumn 2007 gallery.

I also posted a video of the White Water Walk. The video is almost two minutes long shows the viewing platforms, the rapids, and the Autumn leaves along the walkway.

Doubletree Hotel keycard

Another in my series on keycards

The other day I found a Doubletree Hotel room keycard on the ground. There is nothing on it that is specific to the Doubletree on Stanley Avenue. These are generic cards that could be used at any Doubletree Hotel location.
