I noticed a couple of months ago that there was a new logo for the former Super Hero Adventure City on Falls Ave. It is now just called Adventure City. I didn’t post about it as I was waiting for signs to change. Well, there has only been 1 sign changed to date.

You can see from this picture, that there used to be a sign that they had to blank out (see the left of the picture).

They have taken that sign out and put in the new logo for Adventure City.

There is nothing different inside. The web site has new names for everything, but everything inside still looks like it did before. The Marvel names are gone, and the signs are just blank. The only thing that looks a little different is the Spider-Man ride. They are actually working on it. It isn’t open yet, but there has been some theming changes. Who knows when it will open…

Maybe the rides and games in this place will actually work now. Did you check the status of games, was there a lot of out of order signs and tape over the coin slots? The Spider Man ride will probably take a while to re-theme and get up and running because the few times I walked up the hill in years past it was almost always broken. Plus since they have to remove all the Spider Man stuff, they will have to put something else in its place. I can’t imagine it being too easy to repair after being neglected for so long either.

It’s a shame that they never did take proper care of that place and capitalize on such good brand as Marvel, I always thought that place was a dump compared to the incredible Great Canadian Midway across the street!

I wonder what the reasoning was behind the loss of the Marvel brand?

I have discussed this many times on here, the last time I went up there the games in both places were pretty dumpy and most did not work, had tape over the coin slots or did not work after you inserted money and employees to refund the money were extremely hard to find. The marvel city was definitely worse though and if you chose your game carefully you could find games that worked on the midway, whereas marvel city had games with very visible problems such as missing buttons and entire missing coin slots in some cases. The midway’s rides are also 100x better and they are actually kept up and are working perfectly. At least if you go on a ride at the midway you know you are getting a decent ride that works and not a barely working ride. It does sound like they are refurbishing the former marvel attractions though and the midway appears to be getting better. I know I have seen photos that showed they are updating the games selection in the midway so they may be putting a bit more into the place now.

Overall all arcades will have their good and bad days though and it could have been that I just hit it on a bad day.

I think we decided in the last epic thread that the marvel brand was lost because they did not want their name associated with such crappy attractions, although there most likely was other reasons too. Marvel has many attractions at many theme parks (remember the IOA billboards they used to have in the clifton hill area?) and if people had a crappy experience in the marvel park on clifton hill they would carry that attitude to other parks and be less likely to visit, especially since they basically advertised it as an extension of their theme park properties.

HAHAHAHA! I put most of the tape over those coin slots. The company cant really afford anything.
