Mayor: Casino deal great news

    From Niagara This Week:

A commitment from the provincial government to extend a lease agreement for Casino Niagara is being heralded as great news by the city’s mayor.

Niagara Falls MPP Kim Craitor last week indicated a long-term lease extension for Casino Niagara will be coming down the pipeline in the next few weeks.

It’s the result of two years of lobbying the provincial government for a new long-term lease for the casino by Mayor Ted Salci, city and regional officials and members of the private sector.

“This is great news for the entire Niagara region,” said Salci, who noted 2,000 jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in new development in the Clifton Hill area could have been lost if Casino Niagara was shut down. “We are encouraged we will have something formal to celebrate (soon).”
