Boccelli’s restaurant

Beside the Keg and the Lodge Inn & Suites Near the Falls is a restaurant. For the longest time they only had a sign up that advertised a breakfast buffet. They recently put up a sign with an actual name… Boccelli’s restaurant.

Convention centre cash?

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Niagara Falls MP Rob Nicholson has some “important” news to share today.

Local politicians say they don’t know what will be announced, but hope the feds have decided to kick in the final one-third share of the estimated $100-million cost to build a convention centre in Niagara Falls.

Nicholson could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening. A media advisory issued late in the day by Infrastructure Canada has him scheduled to make an “important announcement on infrastructure” at 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel.

Lethal Weapon back for Labour Day rally

From Niagara This Week:

Actor-turned-activist Danny Glover was looked to as a lethal weapon by labour leaders during a rally outside of Canadian Niagara hotels on Labour Day.

Glover, a labour rights activist and actor best known for his role as Los Angeles police sergeant Roger Murtaugh alongside Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon movies, came to Niagara Falls to attend the solidarity rally by Unite Here Canada, a union which represents hospitality and some trade workers, to protest the management’s treatment of employees at the three hotels owned by Canadian Niagara Hotels: Sheraton-on-the-Falls, Brock Plaza and the Skyline Inn.

The group assembled at the corner of Hunter and Union streets and marched to the front of the Sheraton-on-the-Falls hotel.
