From the Niagara Falls Review:
There were two words everyone tip-toed around last week when Niagara Falls MP Rob Nicholson finally confirmed Ottawa was chipping in to build a convention centre in the Fallsview area. “White elephant” dared not rear its ugly head, it seemed. Nicholson, Mayor Ted Salci and convention centre co-ordinator Dragan Matovic danced all around the phrase as they offered assurances the proposed $100-million convention centre will never become a burden on local taxpayers. It was almost like uttering the words might jinx it.
