The slow road to Niagara Falls

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

It was bumper to bumper traffic at Niagara border crossings over the weekend as motorists made a mass exodus south of the border.

A holiday weekend typically results in a backlog at the bridges – and there was no reprieve for drivers this time.

In some instances, drivers trapped in their vehicles in steaming summer weather resorted to honking their horns, and a few vehicles ran out of gas waiting to move….

Not all of the incoming traffic was heading state-side.

Much of the traffic dispersed at Stanley Avenue as travellers came to enjoy the sights and sounds of Niagara Falls. As well, the Caribana Festival in Toronto added to the traffic load.

The influx of vehicles resulted in traffic chaos in and around Clifton Hill and along Lundy’s Lane.
