Various Niagara Falls petitions

As I have been reviewing the progress of my Jay Cochrane petition, I searched the site for anything related to Niagara Falls. I could only find 4 petitions (including mine). Here are the others:

Enquiry into Marineland - This petition started in August of 2004 after Neocia died. The petition is calling for an “enquiry into the conditions of Marineland.” At the time of this posting, there are 422 signatures.

Niagara Falls Sports and Entertainment Centre - This petition is asking the “City of Niagara Falls to build a 5,000 seat Sports and Entertainment Centre having an Ontario Hockey League team as its main tenant.” At the time of this posting, there are 185 signatures.

NIAGARA GORGE PARKWAY REMOVAL - This is a Niagara Falls, NY petition supporting the removal of some lanes of the Robert Moses Parkway and turn that into a parkland. At the time of this posting, there are 1,516 signatures.

Clifton Hill Resorts Update - August 2007

On Friday I received the latest issue of the Clifton Hill Resorts Update newsletter. They are promoting the same sorts of packages they always promote. They also highlight the upcoming Niagara International Kite Festival.

The trouble with thrill-seekers (they’re all wet)

From the Globe and Mail:

Fresh from a good soaking in the Niagara River, 10-year-old Tess Driscoll of Greenwich, Conn., steps off the Whirlpool jet boat and recites what she has just learned about a war once fought here.

“Nobody won, and that’s why we share the river,” Tess says as her father, Kevin, looks on proudly.

“They said it depends on who you ask,” a dripping Mr. Driscoll adds.

The Driscolls are talking about the War of 1812, highlights of which they have just heard aboard their one-hour jet boat excursion up the river and into the churning Whirlpool Rapids, just below Niagara Falls.

Little do they know how equally apt their words are when applied to a battle raging this summer, right under their wet feet, between the thrill ride’s operator and a vocal band of detractors.

Coming Down to the Wire

From the Niagara Falls Review:

He isn’t supposed to be doing this, of course. No 63-year-old man should.

That’s the age you start winding down. Preparing for retirement. Dealing with new aches and pains.

It’s not the age you step onto a cable 200 feet in the air for a walk across the Niagara Falls skyline.

Don’t forget to sign the petition!
