Legends of the falls

    From the Sydney Morning Herald:

Ten metres from the crest of Niagara Falls. Just 10 more metres and we’d all be tumbling over the top in the same second as 600,000 litres of water. The gasps of onlookers are muffled by the roar of the river, racing to the rim at 100kmh, as I wonder what … “Hey, buddy,” shouts a man from behind. “Would you take our picture? Right there, right where you’re standing.”

And I have just won my way to the fence. A spot at the front of the throng at Table Rock, where a 19th-century stone fence and just 10 metres of scrub are between spectators and the brink of Horseshoe Falls – Canada’s piece of this phenomenon that attracts more than 13 million visitors a year.
