Making room for their addition (Former Renaissance Hotel)

The former Renaissance Hotel (currently Fallsview Plaza Hotel) which is already deep into their large addition, has recently taken down the pedestrian bridge that linked it to the Hilton’s larger bridge. This bridge leads guests across Fallsview Blvd to the Fallsview Casino Resort. From the Niagara Falls council reports first offered last year, this will likely be replaced with a 5 story addition that will link it to the existing bridge again… is it just me, or do we use the name Fallsview excessively in this city?

  1. I think you’re right Graham. And since Mr. Alek and the Fallsview BIA settled the trademark dispute over “Fallview”, it seems to be even more prolific. It comes up quite frequently on Trip Adviser where potential visitors assume that anything called Fallsview actually has a view of the Falls. On the other hand, that area of the city has been known as Fallsview forever, long before the hotels, restaurants and casino, so there is really nothing wrong with establishments in that area using the name.

  2. I would think the Fallsview Plaza name would be just temporary until renovations are complete? I use to stay there when it was the Renaissance Hotel my last visit the hotel wasn’t as nice as it used to be. Hopefully the hotel will become high end when it’s complete and not another 2 star hotel.

  3. I’m sure I saw somewhere that once the addition is complete this would be changing to a Four Points Sheraton or Hampton Inn, or something similar. Anybody remember reading that?

The Sheraton website is also listing this:
“The Westin Fallsview, Niagara Falls – Opening February 24, 2011”
This is the one at the end of Robinson St. I think they better get moving on it to hit that date.

  4. Westin hotel would be great for NF i hope it gets built. Fallsview casino area is a great spot for 4 or 5 star hotels. I think Hampton inn’s are better for Clifton Hill area.

  5. Great find Drafty. They have about two years which is a bit tight but doable. Construction would definately need to start this winter.
