The ultimate Niagara Falls showdown …

From the Ottawa Citizen:

Hope you bought a clean pair of underwear! Mwah-ha-ha!”

Welcome to Canada’s permanent circus, a.k.a. Niagara Falls, Ont., where the buildings bark at you in menacing tones. (A character outside The House of Frankenstein actually does accost you about your underwear.)

Niagara Falls, where hotdogs are part of a complete breakfast. And where waxy incarnations of Brangelina are on a humanitarian mission to bring more cheesy tourist snapshots into the world.
In addition to the famous falls enjoyed here on the Maid of the Mist, Niagara Falls offers all kinds of tacky attractions, but which ones are worth the price of admission?

Oh and — jeez, almost forgot — somewhere behind the sideshow mania, there is apparently a waterfall.

A season of ups and downs for Falls tourist attractions

From the Buffalo News:

They came, they saw, but they didn’t spend as much money as in years past.

That was an early assessment of the 2008 summer tourist season as local business owners and tourism leaders today wrap up a long weekend that is typically one of the busiest for travelers to Niagara Falls.

Vendors, hoteliers and Niagara Falls State Park officials painted a mixed picture of the season, with some reporting substantial increases in the number of visitors and others noting that they haven’t made as much money compared with other years.

Cairns Family Holiday Part Two

Someone with a Wordpress blog posted about a recent family vacation to Niagara Falls:

Well …………. after a good sleep for all - even with us all sleeping in the same room, we went out for a yummy breakfast. Tim thought Denny’s was only a few minutes away from the hotel - it turns out that is where it used to be, but now that site is just a parking lot. So we ended up walking down to Clifton Hill to find a Denny’s!
