Film on falls gets American debut in revamped theater

From the Buffalo News:

A renovated Niagara Adventure Theater in the Niagara Falls State Park Visitor Center marked its grand opening Thursday with a 40-minute movie on the history of the falls.

“Niagara: Legends of Adventure,” which has been shown in Niagara Falls, Ont., for 21 years, made its official debut on the American side.

The movie has been seen by 14 million people at the IMAX theater since it opened on the Ontario side of the border in 1986, said Murray Mold, marketing director for Destination Cinema, which operates Niagara Adventure Theater.

I wonder what the IMAX Theatre in Niagara Falls, Ontario thinks of losing their exclusivity for the movie.

It’s the same operators, and they’re thrilled at how well the U.S. one is doing (it’s been operating for a while. It was just the grand opening recently)

I understand it is Destination Cinema, who also operates both. From a corporate perspective, Destination Cinema will have a lot more people see the movie, but it won’t be double. People who may have come across to see it in Canada may not now. So for the local operator/manager (this is what I meant) at the IMAX Theatre, this may mean a drop in business.

Ive had the dvd for about 4 years now. I wish they would make a new one. It would be great if they chronicled more on the city, like casinos coming to NF etc… They should do one about how much the city has changed over the past few decades.
