Tourism season off to mixed start

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

One holiday commemorates soldiers who lost their lives in war and the other marks the birthday of Queen Victoria.

Despite their varied origins, the Memorial and Victoria Day long weekends have long been the unofficial kickoff to the start of another tourism season in Niagara.

In the past, the back-to-back holidays resulted in a surge of visitors to the Honeymoon Capital of the World.

    But not this year.

While business was brisk during the Victoria Day weekend, there was a marked decrease in visitors over the American holiday.
