When Baskin Robbins and Mr. Sub first closed, and before Little Caesars opened, there was a notice on the window about something called the Victoria Avenue Beer Garden. Well, Little Caesars has been open for 8 months, and Baskin Robbins reopened recently. The space where Mr. Sub used to be (with the adjacent patio) now has a pub feel to it. There is no sign, but I presume this is the Victoria Avenue Beer Garden.

Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort needs to push its Avalon ballroom concerts and hotel accommodations to bring gaming revenue back up at the casino and Casino Niagara, says Ontario Lottery and Gaming spokeswoman Teresa Roncon.
“What we’re doing is concentrating on our non-gaming amenities - the entertainment portion. We are concentrating on making it as attractive a property as possible,” she said.
Revenue at Niagara’s casinos dropped 4.1 per cent for the 2006-07 fiscal year compared to the previous year, according to a performance result OLG released Wednesday. Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara brought in combined revenues of $643.7 million between April 2006 and March 31.
How much of that came form your pocket?

Tumultuous waves of support for jet boat tourism in Niagara-on-the-Lake and opposition to their noise and speed dominated a public meeting on the stormy issue.
Concerns about the environmental effects of Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours on the Niagara River were raised repeatedly during a four-hour meeting Tuesday night attended by nearly 300 people at Niagara District Secondary School.
Niagara-on-the-Lake town councillors must decide whether to renew a lease for Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours at the town-owned dock at 1 Melville St.
While the tour boat company has been operating from the location since 1992, it has never been welcomed by all local residents.

They call him Star, and this summer he’ll be acting like one.
Three times a day, the Yellow Napped Amazon will greet his public, say a few words, maybe sing if he feels like it, then retire to his quarters. It’s good summer work if you can find it.
But he isn’t the only one getting the star treatment at the Bird Kingdom (formerly Niagara Falls Aviary) on River Road. There’s the macaw who does The Twist, the Lorikeets who serenade each other, and the two Ring-tailed Teals with short attention spans.
It’s not the greatest show on earth, but they’re working at it.
