Bradley ‘cautiously optimistic’ about passport requirement

From Niagara This Week:

Early and consistent lobbying of American security officials and border states regarding a plan to require passports at land crossings appears to be paying off, St. Catharines MPP Jim Bradley told a luncheon crowd.

Ontario tourism minister and minister responsible for seniors said the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has taken an interest in Ontario’s secure driver’s licence document, and it looks like it will be accepted at the border and perhaps adopted in other jurisdictions.

“They’re now entertaining that,” he said. “I think we’re making significant improvement, and I’m cautiously optimistic about that.”
