From the Niagara Falls Review:
Tumultuous waves of support for jet boat tourism in Niagara-on-the-Lake and opposition to their noise and speed dominated a public meeting on the stormy issue.
Concerns about the environmental effects of Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours on the Niagara River were raised repeatedly during a four-hour meeting Tuesday night attended by nearly 300 people at Niagara District Secondary School.
Niagara-on-the-Lake town councillors must decide whether to renew a lease for Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours at the town-owned dock at 1 Melville St.
While the tour boat company has been operating from the location since 1992, it has never been welcomed by all local residents.
