The engineering feat of building a cable car over the Niagara River whirlpool was recognized Thursday when the Whirlpool Aero Car was designated an International Historic Civil Engineering Work… The ride was built between 1914 and 1916 and was originally known as the Spanish Aero Car, paying tribute to the nationality of its designer.
