Travelocity’s Roaming Gnome checked out the sights of Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake on the weekend.
While here, the gnome was spotted at such places as Niagara Parks Journey Behind the Falls and taking in a close up view of the Horseshoe Falls aboard a Hornblower Niagara Cruises catamaran. He was also spotted at the Spanish Aero Car, the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, and Brock’s Monument at Queenston Heights, the Laura Secord Homestead, Ravine Vineyard The Niagara Skywheel and Fallsview Casino Resort.
You probably saw this, but on December 28, 2012 the Google logo on their search web site was changed to honour the 160th birthday of Leonardo Torres-Quevedo, the designer of the Whirlpool Aero Car (formerly Spanish Aero Car).
The engineering feat of building a cable car over the Niagara River whirlpool was recognized Thursday when the Whirlpool Aero Car was designated an International Historic Civil Engineering Work… The ride was built between 1914 and 1916 and was originally known as the Spanish Aero Car, paying tribute to the nationality of its designer.
