DoubleTree Resort Lodge & Spa – Buchanans Chophouse

We are a family with three small children, so we rarely eat out anywhere fancy, so it was kind of odd taking the kids with us to Buchanans Chophouse. Since this was the middle of December, the hotel was not very busy, and there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant. We were worried that our kids would bother the other guests, but they were pretty good. The menu did have a kids section, and the portions for the kids were huge. One of our sons got a cheeseburger and the other one ordered a small pizza. They both had French fries and a drink. They were quite happy. My wife had a pasta dish with beef tenderloin. She raved about it. She said that every time she eats pasta now she hopes it tastes as good as that dish did. I had a steak, which was the house special. It was very large, and tasted incredible. Similar to my wife, now every time I have a steak I hope it tastes as good as the one I had there.

Not only was the food great, but the service was excellent. Our server at dinner was a gentleman named Maurice. He was very kind (my older son even said so himself) and everything was brought out quickly. Maurice had an accent (I’m not sure where he was from). We had recently watched Ratatouille, and my wife said she felt like we were at a fancy French restaurant ?

The prices were definitely not what you’d find in a big chain family restaurant, but the food also was much better. The overall price wasn’t outrageous, and considering how much we liked the food, we are certainly looking forward to going back (without the kids).
