DoubleTree Resort Lodge & Spa – Our Room

We had a suite on the 19th floor (actually the 18th as there is no 13th floor). This was at the end of the hallway on the top floor. It was almost like a small apartment. The first room that you went into was a small living room. Then there was a short hallway where there was a closet (with an ironing board and iron), a fridge, a counter with a coffee pot and some supplies, and the door to the bathroom. The biggest room was our bedroom.

The “living room” or sitting room had a couch, a chair, a desk, and a TV. You could sit and relax here while someone else was sleeping. We did that as we put our kids to bed and we stayed up and watched some more TV.

The bathroom was clean and bright. All of the supplied soaps and shampoos were Neutrogena brand. The only thing that could have been improved was the water pressure in the shower. It wasn’t bad enough for us to complain, but it definitely could have been stronger. There was a hairdryer that my wife used and she said it worked fine.

The bedroom was very large. Since the room was at the end of the hotel, there were windows on the front wall, as well as on the side wall. There were two queen sized beds. DoubleTree seems to take great pride in their “Sweet Dreams” beds. They describe them this way:

A plush-top mattress that is triple-sheeted with luxurious high-thread-count linens topped with a down comforter and an abundant supply of jumbo pillows. And the bed isn’t just comfortable — it’s beautiful and inviting with elegant decorative bedcovers, skirting and shams.

That is a lot of fluffy marketing words. All I can say is that the bed was comfortable! The room also had a nice chair in the corner, a dresser, and TV (yes, there were two TVs in the room). My wife recently had a baby, so there was a crib setup for us in the room as well.

One little feature that isn’t a make or break kind of thing was the nice alarm clock. It is an MP3 player clock. There were presets for Rock, Pop, Oldies and Country, and then a small audio cable so you can connect your iPod or other MP3 player and listen to something. I actually listened to an episode of 60 Minutes while my wife was getting ready (it didn’t take her the full 60 Minutes to get ready).
