From the St. Catharines Standard:
Niagara’s tourism appeal lies in its chameleon way of attracting everyone from families visiting Niagara Falls to upper income wine travellers, says a Niagara College tourism expert.
“What makes us sexy is the natural environment we have to offer and how we’ve used it,” says David Veres, the college’s dean of hospitality and tourism.
What Niagara needs is a way of better selling its assets, he said.
That would help local tourism providers weather what’s being called this summer’s perfect tourism storm  a skyrocketing Canadian dollar, escalating gas prices, and confusion at the border that’s keeping many American daytrippers stateside.
“We’ve survived 9-11, SARS. The tourism industry doesn’t go away, as long as it continues to stay the course and develop quality experiences for tourists.”
