New Quality Hotel Opens just in time for summer

As was mentioned previously, there is a new Quality Hotel on Ferry Street (it’s not Lundy’s Lane yet at that point).

Here is part of the press release:

Choice Hotels Canada welcomes the addition of a recently converted 145-room Quality Hotel® & Conference Centre in Niagara Falls, ON.

Located in the heart of the city’s tourist district, the property is within walking distance to the Falls, serene parkland and many popular attractions such as the Fallsview Casino, Maid of the Mist and Clifton Hill.

Hopefully they can keep this one running. This building’s had such a dismal history. It’s been there for 10 years, maybe more, and it was closed for much of it.

From the outside it is a nice clean-looking building. I was surprised it looked that nice.

If the residents could somehow petition the removal of the strip joint (almost adjoining the property), they might have much better luck with keeping the hoteloperational.

I, too, have seen hotels and resturants come and go over the past 10 years and this may be part of the reason.

That strip club in the past was known as one of the worst for many reasons in NF. Its been cleaned up, but still a problem. Why would a family want to stay next door to that?

I doubt that the hotel will advertise that fact, so most patrons will never know. To be honest, I have driven past there at all times of the day, and have never seen anyone, others than passers-by, anywhere near the place. As for the hotel, I hope that they can get the restaurant back in operation as something descent. I really miss the East Side Mario’s.

We miss East Side Mario’s, too! In fact, we used to go to Mapleview Mall in Burlington, not just to shop, but to eat at East Side Mario’s UNTIL we discovered there is one in St. Catharines! Just call us slow learners!!!

Every trip to the Falls includes dinner at East Side Mario’s which ever town we happen to be in! They have, however, changed their dessert menu…the “Chocolate Eruption” is no longer served! When we discovered that, it was a very sad day for this family!!! :(

I had been to East Side Mario’s when it was there, and never noticed the strip joint. And the other day when I took the pictures in the post, I never noticed the strip joint. Perhaps things are more noticeable at night.

Graham, somehow I’m relieved to know that you don’t know where that strip joint is. : ) I’m a little worried about myself, though.

I did stay in that place once (the hotel - not the strip joint). the price range was between Lundy’s and Fallveiw (much like the location), which was what we were looking for. We didn’t have any issues with the strip joint beside the unsavoriness. I don’t know if that’s a word but it’s the best adjective i can come up with.

East Side Mario’s was a plus….nothing spectacular about the hotel itself. Haven’t been back there since.

I agree, the strip club isnt noticable during the day. But at night, they have a VERY bright lighted sign, and it is noticable from several blocks away.

LOL. It’s hot pink and blue if i remember correctly.

Ok….I thought it was shades of purple!!!

Will someone, please, ride by there tonight and settle this family feud! lol

My mom and I are arguing over a strip club. Next up on Jerry Springer….

Anyone who reads this: I am searching for framed photos of the Niagara area for a room I am doing in my house. Im looking for more than just the falls, Im looking for photos/art of Clifton Hill, Fallsview district, etc… Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I might be able to help you out - let me pull a few images together for you. - what size are you looking for?

8×10 is the first thing that comes to my mind really. I admit, being the guy that I am though, decorating isnt my stength. Im just trying to get together like 4 or 5 nice looking pics for this room Im trying to throw together. All the stuff Ive found online is generic, nothing behind it. Or very airbrushed. It would be great if ya could help out. Haha Ill be overly cheesey and say Im trying to capture the spirit of the area in what Im trying to do.
