Red Orbit has a fascinating article about some Marineland history. Apparently in 1977 John Holer was flying in a plane with a dozen dolphins from Mexico and the plane was forced to land in Texas due to bad weather. When they landed, US Customs saw the animals and called in the National Marine Fisheries Service and some of the dolphins were released in the Gulf of Mexico. John Holer tried to sue the government, but lost.
