Live, from the Falls, it’s Regis and Kelly

    From the Buffalo News:

Marian Fisher’s lips were blue. Her fingers were stiff. She had never been happier.

That’s because after waiting in a gusty wind for two hours as the temperature rose to 46 degrees Monday morning, the Buffalo woman and 1,000 others got to play a part in the “Live with Regis and Kelly” show.

It wasn’t a large part. Packed onto the damp grass of the Oakes Garden Theatre, the crowd whooped and hollered on command as the cameras beamed the scene across the continent. Posed against the backdrop of the Horseshoe Falls, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa drew cheers with every jibe.

Canadian people are so nice, Philbin said after a commercial break. “A woman came up to me and gave me her gloves.”

“And you took them!” scolded Ripa.

“I wanted her coat,” Philbin deadpanned, and the largely Canadian crowd roared again. Philbin drew a cheer for holding up a Sabres jersey and praising the team, but it paled beside the ovation a Victoria Day reference provoked.
