Where to find good information on Niagara Falls

In a previous posting, regular visitor NiagaraRedSox commented that I should add some new features to the website:

Hey Graham…have you ever considered having write ups and opinions on restaurants/hotels here in the niagara region on the site? Maybe like a forum area of the site exclusive to the niagara region’s hotels, retaurants, attractions….like tripadvisor but exclusive to niagara??

Rather than answer in a comment, I’ll do so in a new posting so more people are likely to read it.

Yes, I have considered all those things. Unfortunately, the only money I earn from the site is from the Google ads I have on the pages. And even then from this site I only earn about $30-$40 a month (I earn a little more from other sites I have). I basically cover my web hosting plan and that’s about it. I’d love to add more features, but it is a matter of time and money. I work full time and often don’t go on the computer at all when I go home. It’s all I can do to keep up with the postings.

Now don’t take this the wrong way… I love doing this. I’m not complain at all. It’s just that there are limits to what I can do right now.

I will tell you that I am trying to work on the main part of the site. I have a new design (that I’m still tweaking). Once I get that done and add more content (it’ll still be months before I get to all of this), then maybe I’ll add more areas to the site.

Until then, feel free to leave in a comment good resources that you’ve used to get information on Niagara Falls hotels, restaurants and attractions…

The complete guide to Niagara golf

I’m not a golfer at all (does mini-putt count?), but if you are, then a good site to check out is Teeing It Up Niagara.

Teeing It Up is a tourism promotional project showcasing Niagara, Ontario and Canadian golf, including new, links-style and Top 100 golf courses, select “stay & play” sites, golf resorts, and regional golf destinations.

They have a balloon?

I’ve always thought this was kind of funny. There’s always discussion as to which side of the border you should be on to view the Falls, and then after you view the Falls, which side has more to do. Well, to give you a better scenic view of Niagara Falls, we have the Skylon Tower, the Falls Tower, the WWE PileDriver, the Marineland Sky Screamer, and now the Niagara SkyWheel. The US side has a hot air balloon.

The choice seems pretty clear!

How the rising dollar is hitting home

This article from the Globe and Mail highlights several business across Canada and how the high Canadian dollar is affecting them. One of the businesses is the Great Wolf Lodge:

Mr. Simmonds said the strengthening loonie means that the resort will be relying on a “balanced” mix of Americans and Canadians. “We don’t see a need for a broad-scale adjustment.” He’s optimistic that with the novelty of the new resort, Americans will continue to book at Great Wolf Lodge.

Note that there are a couple of other quotes from Keith Simmonds, General Manager, in the article.
