The other day I posted a terrible cell phone picture of the Skylon Tower and Hilton. Here are a couple of better pictures:

  1. Drafty says:

We already know that the Hilton is going to be higher than the Skylon, and since the top 60′-70′ of the Skylon is roof and antenna, the hotel will definitely be the highest observation point in the city. The saving grace for the Skylon is that it is right on the escarpment overlooking the park, so will still have the better views.

  2. Dennis says:

They look about the same right now in this picture, but of course the Skylon is closer to the camera, which makes the Hilton already taller.

  3. Graham says:

In the first picture, I’m far enough away that they are essentially the same distance away from the camera.
In the second picture, because of where I took the picture, I am a bit closer to the Skylon.
Also, again remember that the Skylon is down Murray Hill a bit, so even though they look about the same height, the Skylon is still currently taller. I’m sure it will pass it soon.

will the top floors see past the embassy/casino hotels?

  5. drafty says:

Much of the existing tower has Fallsview rooms, so this one will have much more, but it’s still 1/4 mile back from the escarpment so the Skylon and closer hotels have better views IMO.
