Someone with a Blogger blog has posted about a recent trip to Niagara Falls:
We arrive at a recently remodeled Quality Inn with a “Falls View” shuttle bus stop in front. How much better can it get! Plenty of time left in the day to look at the waterfalls and let the shuttle take us over to the park. The Niagara Falls, all three of them, were beautiful. We couldn’t believe our eyes (and ears!) when the bus drove us through town and dropped us off at the bottom of Clifton Hill just across the road from the water falls. Not what we had expected: a ferris wheel, a wax museum, a galaxy of golf, Dracula’s Haunted House, another one for Frankenstein, Treasure Island, currency exchanges, noisy virtual reality places and joy rides, a giant, domed Water Splash Palace, just to name a few attractions. Add to that thousands of people and hotels conveniently located in the middle of this carnival – aside from the crowds, not what we had expected. We had come to watch and enjoy the waterfalls, not a boardwalk at Niagara Falls! No mention of this in the AAA Tourbook fine print or anywhere else.
Huh? No mention of the attractions in the AAA Tourbook? I find that hard to believe…

Yes, they obviously did tons of research before their trip.
I loved this part the best(they were crossing from Michigan at Port Huron/Sarnia):
“As we are crossing the bridge over Lake Ontario into Canada, we can see Toronto’s skyline in the distance”
With eyesight like that, they should have seen the ‘circus’ of Niagara Falls from at least Hamilton, and not been so surprised when they got here.
