It’s pretty easy to see how many floors are above the ledge (they are working on the 14th) on the Hilton addition, but how many floors are before that ledge. It appears that the first 3 levels for sure are double height. So I’m counting those as 1&2 and 3&4 & 5&6. The 7th floor looks like it is 1 1/2 stories tall, but I’ll still count that as just 1 floor, and then the regular sized 8th floor. So add that all together and they are currently working on the 22nd floor. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it
(unless one of you can convince me otherwise).

Any idea how many floors they are doing?
I think the number is 52. From now on I’ll report something along the lines of “the Hilton has completed 21 of 52 floors”.
I guess when it gets to be the same height as the existing building, we’ll know that it’s at 34 storys.
And yet the artists renderings that I’ve seen ( like this one http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/4086/hiltoniiky7.jpg ) make it look like it is twice as high as the existing, not 50% higher.
The architect’s web site says it is going to be a 62-storey building. That is almost twice as high as the existing building.
SkyScraperPage shows that it is going to be a 52-storey building.
Which is it?
According to the city website, they approved a 52 storey addition. I think it was 62 or 58 storeys in earlier proposals. Or maybe the Hilton will do like Canadian Niagara does, build 62 storeys and worry about permits later
62/52 storeys, is that floors as well?
It amazes me how they can build these big towers in these little spaces. On the lower floors will the view of the canadians falls be blocked by the Casnio? Are they going to keep to old Hilton open still?
It’s hard to say…
A storey is approximately 10 feet tall. So with the Hilton, the first 3 levels look like they are double height (or 20 feet tall) so after those three levels, it is 60 feet tall instead of 30 feet tall. There are 3 levels, but they are the height of 6 storeys. Then of course many hotels omit the 13th floor.
I don’t know how tall the Hilton is going to be exactly.
Last official word I read on the official city of N.F site was 62 storys and if I remember correctly that was last reported in the Review as well.
StEC, where do you see that on the city site? It definitely says 52 here: http://www.niagarafalls.ca/business/new_developments/detailedInfo.asp?id=1531
i dont think it really matters to be honest, all i want to know is when it is planned to be completed, and if the old hilton will share the same pool.
I am a worker for the city and was out there today looking at the progress, it is going to be 72 storeys making it the tallest hotel in canada, not sure if it is taller then the hotel in detroit, but if it is it will be the tallest i north america.
