Topple Tower progress at Marineland

When I was at Marineland last Monday I walked by the location where the new Topple Tower will be. They are promoting the ride on the maps they give out (it says it is coming soon). The location of the ride is around the bend from the bears and immediately across from Dragon Mountain. The ride isn’t there yet, but the site appears all ready for it:

As a side note, it doesn’t appear that there has been any more progress on the Dragon Mountain facade improvements.

Construction at Marineland

I just posted the article from the Niagara Falls Review about the new construction at Marineland. Apparently they are building a huge shark exhibit. Well, I was at Marineland last Monday (10 days ago; I haven’t posted my comments yet) and noticed that beside Arctic Cove there is a huge cleared area with construction vehicles. I assume this is where the new exhibits are going.

Holer offers Terrors of the Sea; Marineland begins construction of shark aquarium

From the Niagara Falls Review:

A massive mechanical shovel scoops dirt from beside a riverbank and loads several dump trucks.

“This is going to be 60 acres, the world’s largest aquarium,” said Marineland owner and founder John Holer.

Casually dressed in a baseball cap and golf shirt, he points to the heavy equipment and explains the construction crew began preparing the ground for a shark exhibit last week.

The Terrors of the Sea shark aquarium is set to open in two years. It will be the first of a four-part marine complex that will include an interactive dolphin habitat, an ocean reef with exotic species of marine life and a rainforest lagoon that will feature fresh water fish from around the world.

Painting in the great outdoors

From Niagara This Week:

Last year, Eleanor Blair travelled more than 2,400 kilometres from her home in Gainsville, Fla. for an exciting new artistic challenge.

The painter, accustomed to creating landscape portraits with oils and a fine-tipped brush, said she needed a challenge, and after hearing about the International Plein Air Painters Paint-Out event in Queen Victoria Park last September, she couldn’t wait to try her luck.
