Going to Canada? Make that ‘cross’ easier to bear

From the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle:

If you’re traveling to Canada this weekend, prepare to wait. More than 40,000 vehicles are expected to cross the three main bridges to and from Canada over the long Labor Day weekend.

When Shirley Lappi and Pamela Sherry decided to visit this Canadian tourist town this week, they planned in advance for their return trip.

Lappi, a U.S. citizen, brought her birth certificate and driver’s license. Sherry, a Canadian citizen, brought her green card and a border-crossing card issued by the U.S. government.

But just as important as the proper documentation, the Michigan women said, they made sure to pack a hefty dose of patience. They accepted the fact they might have to wait two hours to get back across the border.
