From WKBW:
Every year, millions of people travel to Niagara Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world. Young Western New Yorkers are making the trip across the border to Ontario for another attraction. Alcohol.
University at Buffalo student Kevin Smith, 20, travels to Canada once a month to drink with his friends. Every night, hundreds of underage adults flock to Clifton Hill and Rumours Nightclub to drink beer, wine and alcohol. It’s perfectly legal. In Ontario, the drinking age is 19.
On a Friday night at Rumours, 70 percent of the crowd comes from Buffalo and its suburbs. And a majority of them are underage in New York, but of legal age in Ontario. The fun does not stop with drinking. The legal age for gambling in Ontario is 19. In Niagara Falls, New York, gamblers must be 21 to “roll the dice” at Seneca-Niagara Casino.
