Cirque Niagara rides into town

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

Whether he’s Jean Valjean in Les Miserables or Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha or even the guy singing the anthem before Maple Leafs games Michael Burgess knows how to get hearts soaring.

His life these days is a circus. A big, $10-million Russian circus.

The Canadian stage legend laughs when recalling how he (and his wallet) got involved with Cirque Niagara, the high-flying gala opening at Rapidsview Park May 20.

“It’s just one of the most normal things you’re talking to friends, the subject comes up, the talks become a little deeper and lo and behold you’re involved,” he said.

“You know, Niagara is ripe for (this) kind of thing. I think it’s going to be a great addition to the landscape of Niagara Falls.”
