From Niagara This Week:

It’s the gigantic New Year’s Eve bash that almost didn’t happen, that nobody wanted to see die and that is about to fill Queen Victoria Park with tens of thousands of people Saturday.

It’s been a couple of turbulent months of planning and fundraising for organizers of the annual free New Year’s Eve concert, but when Spirit of West and Great Big Sea climb on stage in front of somewhere between 30,000 and 50,000 people, it will be a true example of a community pulling together.

Great Big Sea and Spirit of the West are the headline acts, with local band Jonesy warming up the crowd. It’s expected about six million people from coast to coast will tune in to view the big bash on national television.
