From the Niagara Falls Review:
Now is the perfect opportunity to brush up on the city’s history, while having a little fun trying to decide who is Niagara Falls’ Most Notable.
There is still time to pick up a ballot because the nomination deadline has been extended for a contest that is being sponsored by the City of Niagara Falls Heritage Week Committee, the Niagara Falls Public Library and the City of Niagara Falls Museums.
The original deadline was Dec. 24, but it has been pushed back so more people can participate, said Debbie Legge, Educational Programmer for the Niagara Falls Museums.
The new deadline is Jan. 7.
The nominee must be a person from the past who helped make Niagara Falls what it is today. It could be someone who was innovative in enhancing or discovering one of Niagara’s growth industries, or someone who gave generously and selflessly and has left a legacy, said Legge.
I’m sure Sir Harry Oaks will be nominated…
I received the following email from the Hilton Niagara Falls:
Because of Christmas being on a Sunday this year, most students were in school until December 23, so they are off for a full week past New Year’s Day. It looks like the Hilton Niagara Falls has some nice activities for the children to participate in during their stay.
From the St. Catharines Standard:
The Niagara Parks Commission has a new teaching partner for its 45-hole Legends on the Niagara golfing facility.
Renowned teaching pro Jim McLean - eight master instructors who have worked under McLean have been named to America’s Top 100 Instructors list and 19 are on The Golf Digest top teacher list - has agreed to establish a teaching academy at Legends beginning in the 2006 golf season.
It may not look like much, but parts for the new HOCO Ferris wheel have already arrived. In between the main Comfort Inn parking, and the large grass parking lot in the back of the property is a fenced in area where they will be storing the parts. The parts shown in the picture are parts of the “spokes”.

I’ve mentioned a couple of times about the New Year’s Eve party in Queen Victoria Park. I also clarified in a comment on one of those posts that CH Hamilton will be boadcasting the party.
You’d think such a big party would have a better sign. This looks very cheap:
Yesterday the Hilton Niagara Falls sent out the same newsletter they did on December 7:
