Marineland is looking forward to inspections by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and The Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the park said in a statement Friday.
“We welcome the pending on-site inspection by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums, of which we are a member,” the statement said. “We invite the public to visit Marineland to meet our animal family and learn more about the work we do here.”

It’s supposed to be a “Surprise Inspection”, so it’s not necessarily going to happen this week, as much as any point in time. Not to mention I really hope they go in there with a fine-tooth comb and really look at not just the condition of the water, but each & every animal mentioned in the video and check out their skin conditions, the eyes, their repetitive habitual behaviors that’s not normal, and find something wrong.
As much as I’d like to see this park succeed, not when I saw that video posted. Whatever happened to this supposed $160 million investment that was planned some 14 years ago (wasn’t it back in 1998 that it started rumoring with the whole shark thing, friendship cove… etc)?
It’s as if he [Holer] gave up a few million into investment, and said the hell with it. No world-class aquarium, no shark exhibit, and apparently deplorable conditions for the existing animals. Ashame considering how HUGE the park is and how much room they have to make larger tanks if need-be. They could swim tanks 3x the size they currently have without any problems if the park invested in it.
Aquarium Dome, Stadium and warehouse pools are all 46 years old each!
I would prefer to see new habitats; sealions sent to VanQua during expansion, Harbor Seals at the koi pond, Walruses at Friendship Cove’s med tank, the dolphins at Marineland France during expansion. This park can and most likely will improve greatly in marine conditions after this!
