Tourism ‘our General Motors’: Falls mayor

From Niagara This Week:

Calling the tourism industry “our General Motors,” Mayor Jim Diodati said the city needs to exploit opportunities to stage “blockbuster events” to further increase the number of visitors coming to Niagara Falls.

“People poke fun at it, but (tourism) is our General Motors,” Diodati told and audience of 200 at the Marriott Gateway on the Falls Hotel Monday. Diodati was delivering his annual State of the City address to an audience of local business people. “We need to see what we can do to strengthen it into a year round business.”

  1. The off season isn’t as bad as it was before the casinos. The convention centre will help also. Even in the off season, Christmas/New Years does well, Valentine’s of course and the new Family Day makes another long weekend, March Break and before you know it the season is on.
