Award-winning news anchor looking forward to Falls visit

From the Welland Tribune:

The smiling new face in the anchor chair at Global National is no stranger to travel.

As a foreign correspondent, Dawna Friesen has had some of the toughest assignments you can get in a post 9/11 world, including reporting from Iraq prior to the downfall of Sadaam Hussein and from Morocco while following the trail of the 2004 Madrid train bombing suspects.

These days, as she’s settling into one of the most high profile journalism jobs in the country, Friesen says travelling across Canada is much safer, but just as interesting as her career abroad.

“I haven’t been (to Niagara Falls) in a long while, so it’s exciting,” Friesen said in a telephone interview from Vancouver on Friday.

“It’s a place you can’t miss when you go on a cross-Canada tour. How could you possibly go across Canada and not go to Niagara Falls?”

Earlier last week, Friesen and her crew had stops in Halifax, Montreal and St. John.

Her schedule took her to Ottawa on Monday, Toronto today and takes her to Niagara Falls on Wednesday.
