My anniversary dinner at Canyon Creek Chophouse

As I tweeted (here, here, and here), I went to Canyon Creek Chophouse (inside the Fallsview Casino Resort) on Thursday with my wife for our anniversary dinner. This has become a tradition for us and we quite enjoy. This trip was no exception.

We had reservations for 5 pm (kind of early), so the restaurant obviously wasn’t very busy. As you recall, the weather on Thursday was beautiful, so there was lots of sunshine coming in the windows. We sat in the 4th booth from the corner in order to avoid the sun in our eyes.

Our server Jerry was there when we needed him, but not too intrusive. At one point one of the managers, Vita (not sure how to spell the name) came by to make sure everything was good (which of course, it was).

Before you have your meal, they bring out a small loaf of amazing 7-grain bread with honey butter. My wife liked it so much a few visits ago, that she went online and found a recipe for honey butter and now makes it for all of our big family meals.

As a starter, we had the Canyon Creek Dip (“Creamy blend of fresh spinach, artichokes and Asiago cheese served with warm nacho chips and salsa”). For dinner I had the Chicago-cut Striploin (“10 oz, 2-inch thick steak, brushed with butter and served with Cabernet roasted garlic jus and crisp onion straws”) with garlic mashed potatoes and Caesar salad. I also had a side of sautéed mushrooms with my meal. My wife had the Chicken Chop (“Double chicken supreme stuffed with roasted garlic and sun-dried tomato goat cheese, rubbed with Cajun butter and baked to perfection. Served with rice pilaf”) and broccoli. For dessert, we shared a Key Lime pie. They knew it was our anniversary, so there was a small sparkler on top when it was delivered. It was all fantastic.

Thanks go out to regular commenter Dan M who works there. He made the reservations for us, and made sure we were treated well (this was the first time he wasn’t working when we went).

I didn’t take any pictures inside the restaurant, but did take a few outside.
