In the bell tower

From the Niagara Falls Review:

A bell sounds in parts of Niagara Falls every day at noon and 6 p. m. It can be heard along Valley Way, Victoria Avenue, at the helicopter rides along the Niagara Parkway, even sometimes on Clifton Hill.

“It depends on the wind,” said Rev. Gerard Power, the priest at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church.

The church’s bell tower smells like greasy oil and old wood. The air is dusty, and a slight breeze travels through dormer windows on the tower walls. It takes 50 steps on a narrow staircase to get to the bell’s motors in the tower.

“We’re about 50 feet closer to heaven than when we were downstairs,” said Power.

Dear Madonna: Desperately Seeking a Reply

Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a night at Rumours Night Club:

I was in Niagara Falls this week on a bit of a business junket an met up with a friend to go dancing. We ended up at Rumours on Clifton Hill (just about as old school tacky Niagara Falls as you can get.)

Diverse lineup planned for Friendship Festival

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Theory of a Dead Man will take centre stage later this month at the annual Fort Erie Friendship Festival.

News that the Vancouver-based trio will be performing has caused “quite a bit excitement,” said Lyn Royce, resource development officer with Fort Erie Festivals.

Singer Tyler Connolly, guitarist Dave Brenner and bassist Dean Back released their self-titled debut album in 2002.

The Juno winners recently released their third album “Scars and Souvenirs.”

Live music has long been a popular draw at the annual festival which runs from June 27 to July 1.
