The Epic Abyss of Incredulity: Niagara Falls, Day 8

Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a recent trip to Niagara Falls:

I look back on the past week and recall a nice mix of family medicine clinic with exciting activities around Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. Our schedule for the week was as follows:

Tuesday - Maid of the Mist Tour, Dinner, Illumination Tower Tour
Wednesday - Cycling / Winery Tour, BBQ Dinner
Thursday - Dinner, Clifton Hill Attractions
Friday - Picnic Lunch, Niagara Glen Gorge Hike, Whirlpool Jet Boat Tour

Falls tourists say they need more amenities

From the Buffalo News:

Pittsburgh resident Adrienne Little was the lead driver in a caravan of Girl Scouts Sunday morning when she came to a fork in the road on the Robert Moses Parkway.

She ended up heading toward the bridge to Canada. She was trying to find the Aquarium of Niagara.

“It was pretty stressful,” Little said. “Signage would be helpful.”

A few blocks away, China natives Michelle Li and Alan Qin were the only two people walking on tree-lined Old Falls Street near the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel. They were looking for the Maid of the Mist, but there was nobody around to ask for directions.

“Niagara Falls is the only great view, and the casino, but what else?” Li asked as they stood in front of the locked doors of the former Wintergarden.

This is a glimpse into life as a tourist in Niagara Falls.

You’ll have a whale of a time!

Last Thursday I received the latest newsletter from the Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview & Spa. They are promoting a Marineland package:

Niagara’s Fury open

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Niagara’s Fury has finally blown into town.

Nearly two weeks after the Niagara Parks Commission’s newest attraction was scheduled to open, the first round of survivors made their way into the massive 4-D theatre Saturday morning.

Joel Noden, executive director of revenue operations and business at the Niagara Parks Commission, attributed the delay in getting Niagara’s Fury up and running to getting Technical Standards and Safety Authority approval to operate the ride.

“Getting the paperwork together, getting the approval and getting the inspector in (took a lot of time),” Noden said. “By the time you play phone tag six times …. it was just kind of back and forth. (The final inspection) literally took 10 minutes on Friday afternoon.”
