Fury opening still on hold

From the Niagara Falls Review:

It’s looking more like Saturday before Niagara’s Fury opens to the public.

The Niagara Parks Commission hopes to have a ride inspector visit Table Rock sometime today to sign off on the highly-anticipated 4-D attraction, said executive director of revenue operations and business Joel Noden.

The ride had been expected to open today, but Noden called such a scenario “highly unlikely.”

“It looks more like a Saturday opening,” he said.

“Is there a shark in that water?” and other notes

A few things…

“Is there a shark in that water?” That’s a question that I heard a little girl ask her parents as they were walking down Murray Hill. She saw the Falls ahead of them, and asked that question :-)

I know there was that article in the paper a couple of weeks ago about how Ripley’s was expecting their business on the Memorial Day weekend to be down 10-12%, but it seems hard to believe. There are a lot of people around these days. Mornings seem slow, but when I’m out walking at lunch, people are everywhere. On the weekends it’s obviously even busier. I obviously don’t know if those people are spending any money, but if they are here, you have to assume they are spending at least some of their money.

We should have a beautiful weekend ahead of us. Right now it is 32°C (90°F) but with the humidity it feels like it is 40°C (102°F). It is supposed to be a few degrees cooler on Saturday and Sunday. I’m sure things will be busy.

Hilton Progress (28 floors?)

The construction at the Hilton seems to be moving at a pretty good pace…

Table Rock Place construction almost complete

I haven’t heard anything else about Niagara’s Fury and whether or not it will be open today. However, the other day I took a couple of pictures of the contruction going on at Table Rock Place, and it looks almost done.

Al Macs open for business

After some pretty extensive renovations, Al Macs (at the corner of Ferry St and Stanley Ave) is open for business again. The restaurant certainly looks better on the outside, and there is a nice large patio as well.
