More development at Thundering Waters planned

    From Niagara This Week:

South-end industries on Stanley Avenue are concerned about what may happen to the business in the future when people start moving into more than 3,000 new dwellings near the Thundering Waters golf and residential development.

Council rezoned about 252 acres of land east of Dorchester Road and north of Chippawa Parkway to residential from industrial and open space after a public meeting at city hall Monday (March 31). Council also recognized some of the land as environmentally protected.

It’s the first step to redeveloping the area with between 3,000-3,600 new homes as well as for commercial and institutional uses and preserved open spaces for recreational uses like trails. While they approve of the development, business owners at the Stanley Avenue Industrial Park are concerned there won’t be a large enough buffer between them and the development.
