Centre snags its first event

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

There will be more mayors in Niagara Falls than you can bang a gavel at in 2014, when the city hosts the Federation of Canadian Municipalities annual conference.

It’s the first major convention to book its event for the Niagara Convention and Civic Centre, the $100-million facility to be built on Stanley Avenue near Dunn Street.

The organization announced Tuesday Niagara Falls had been selected to host its conference in 2014, Mayor Ted Salci said.

“It’s excellent news. It’s really going to set Niagara on a new course,” said Salci, who made a presentation to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities board meeting in Brandon, Man. last week, along with Joyce Morocco from Niagara Falls Tourism and Patrick Gedge, head of the Niagara Economic Development Corp.
