“Winging it”

From the Niagara This Week:

Every day at lunch, while Graham Wing takes a walk through the city’s tourist area, he’s on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary.

It may be construction at the Hilton inching one floor closer to completion. It may be renovations at a nearby buffet restaurant. It could even be a sign going up or coming down on Clifton Hill.

No matter what it is, Wing is ready to take a photo with his handy camera phone and he can have it online on his blog in the blink of an eye.

Hey… wait a minute… that’s me!  :-)
(I’ll comment more on this another time…)

Congrats on the article Graham! Very well deserved. Thanks to Robert Lapensée for taking the time to acknowledge our favourite site.

Good show Graham,!!! If you don’t watch it, you’re going to become more well known than “one of the hotels on Clifton Hill” :)

I told Robert Lapensee where I worked, but I emphasized that the blog had nothing to do with work, so I guess he decided it wasn’t relevant to the story.

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments. Niagara This Week is a free paper in the region. It only publishes on Wednesday and Friday. I don’t know how much extra traffic I’ll get, but every little bit helps.

Well done Graham!! I found your site a bit over a week ago and I check it every day just to see what you have published today. Thanks for keeping us current on the happenings of one of the most beautiful areas in Canada!

We’re going to have to report on “Graham sightings”, since Graham is moving into celebrity status.

Not to brag, but I spotted Keith Tinkler at Pen Centre once. If anyone else can name why he has Niagara celebrity status (besides my mom and dad) - speak up!!! : )

C’mon Karen, give!! Who is he?

  14. 14 karen

Haha! stay tuned. Let’s see if anyone can get it. Or - who knows? Maybe the man himself is one of the 8000 visitors and will introduce himself and why I - and many others might know who he is.

  15. 15 sue

    oh! oh!oh!..i know..i know..lol..ummm karen?..am i allowed to tell?..lol :)

  16. 16 karen

go for it - that’s the idea!!!! I wanted to know if I was the only one who knows who this guy is!

  18. 18 Drafty

    Arms crossed. Foot tapping impatiently!!:)

  19. 19 sue

lol..i don’t know alot about him..but i know he’s a professor at brock who studies mostly bedrock basins and the erosion of many waters..including the falls…that’s all i know…and i learned that YEARS ago…lol
    :)

  20. 20 karen

Correct! I learned who he was from maybe three different Discovery Channel specials on the Falls. He was called in as a geology expert and he does a great job talking about the gorge and how the falls were formed, carbon dating shells that you can find in Niagara Glen…all kinds of interesting stuff. Trying to use sonar to “see” what the bottom of the rapids above and below the Falls are like.

I was inspired to explore the Glen by him in those shows and it is an amazing place.

So yes - I saw him at the mall and didn’t get to say hi or get an autograph. The man moves pretty fast. Well - if you want to avoid the paparazzi - I guess you’ve gotta keep moving!

This is the life that Graham has to look forward to! US - his biggest fans stalking him on the Hill. : )

Oh, so he’s not Celine Dion’s long lost third cousin or anything :). He sounds (and looks, from the picture I found Googling) pretty interesting anyways.

You never know when we will mob you, so remember to grab your sharpie LOL

  28. 28 Graham

    Lunch is always good :-)
But then I won’t be able to go for my walk :-(

  29. 29 Lexi

Graham do you really get those great photos from your camera phone?

  30. 30 Graham

No. I wish I did. I told Robert that I always carry the phone around, so I can take pictures if I need to, but those pictures are always blurry/grainy. All of the good pictures are taken with one of my two Kodak cameras (a 4MP and an 8MP one).

  31. 31 Lexi

I was going to say I take photos with my camera phone and same problem. I am curious can you give some type of tip in taking them do you do it across the street. I always try and either I need to just aim up or chance the people walking in front. Also I tried on the skywheel and there is a double reflection in most of the photos now I am hoping to find a good camera for my next trip.
