From Niagara This Week:
The demise of Cirque Niagara’s Avaia may have more to do with a flawed business plan than with succumbing to some of the challenges in the new tourism landscape, says the chair of Niagara Falls Tourism.
It’s not expected that other major attractions will be closing up, said Wayne Thomson, chair of Niagara Falls Tourism. In fact some new developments are moving ahead at full-speed.
“It mystifies me (Cirque’s reasoning). With the dollar, passport confusion, the border, terrorism, SARS that people are still coming to Niagara Falls,” said Thomson. “People are still coming and filling up hotels.”
