A visitor to Niagara Falls blogged about a recent trip:
Just got back from my trip to Niagara Falls. We stayed on the American side, but spent most of our time over in the Canadian side.
A few days later the person than posted some pictures:

Here are some of the images I took on my trip to Niagara Falls, both from the Canadian side and the American side. I put them into colleges for easier viewing…

from facebook - someone made a “you know you’re from Niagara falls when…” list. Not necessarily. I’m not from Niagara - and I know some of these. : )
I almost want to register for that just to see the list!!
we knew lots of them…lol
You know you’re from Niagara Falls when…
1) You know AT LEAST three different ways to get to “The Fallsâ€.
You casually call Clifton Hill “The Hill†and every Niagara Fallian will understand what you’re talking about.
2) You are Italian.
3) If you are not Italian, you have an immediate understanding that you are a minority.
4) AT LEAST 70% of your graduating class goes to Brock or Niagara College.
5) You know that going across the border is called “Going over the river.â€
6) Every summer the Niagara Parks Commission owns your soul.
7) You can write a series of scholarly journal on the sheer stupidity of some…no no…MOST (if not all) tourists. “So y’all just live in them Falls right there? Uh huh…and do y’all take real money here?†*Shudder*
9) You justify using those extra litres of gas to drive to the Pen by thinking of how much of a waste of time AND gas it’d be to go to the Square.
10) You respond to the question “How do you get to the casino?†with “Which one?â€
11) You proudly walk down the aisles of the wine section mentally noting which ones “we†made.
12) You know Chippawa really isn’t a part of Niagara Falls.
13) You know of and/or have been to “The Screaming Tunnel”. Bonus points for those who know the story behind it!
14) You roll your eyes and have yourself a sarcastic chuckle at the tourists beaming about how excited they are to go to Rumours Nightclub.
15) You know that the only reason why the Niagara Falls Public Library on Victoria Avenue hasn’t been shut down by now is because it doubles as a safehaven for bums to sleep in during its hours of operation.
16) You use the ol’ “I’m from Niagara Falls” and/or “I work on the Hill” line to get discounts at the ridiculously expensive tourist attractions.
17) Depending on when and where you went to school, you either a) was constantly thankful that your life was not in danger from the ghetto delapidated conditions of St. Michael’s Catholic High School OR b) are/were secretly jealous of St. Michael’s new school but were consold by the thoughts of it being situated in the boondocks of Niagara Falls.
18) You know who Sir Adam Beck is and his importance to the city.
19) Enjoying chocolate/icecream from Laura Secord with a non-Niagara Fallian entails a 10 minute history lesson of said woman that disputes the ludicrous idea that she is just a creator of quality tasties.
20) You know what and/or have taken a ‘Speedy’.
21) You know what NOTL stands for.
22) You know you where you can a cup of java, doughnuts AND wonton soup from…Good ol’ Country Fresh.
23) Despite suffering borderline food poisoning from The Flying Saucer, you always come crawling back for more.
24) No matter what your age is, you always look forward to the carnival each year.
25) You know who King Waldorf is.
26) You have seen/heard of/have had a run in with the bag/bird lady.
27) You are/You know AT LEAST 3 people who are “in a band”.
28) You are friends with/were/are still an emo/scene kid.
29) You have gone beer boganning at Fireman’s Park.
30) You stay away from Silvertown at ALL costs!
31) You know what “The Duff” is and maybe you’ve even swam there before! Ick!
32) You know that the Welland River is more commonly referred to as “The Crick”.
For my money, the bag/bird lady is the funniest one;because its so true!
Cool list, i myself know a bunch of them.
Thanks Dan! I knew some of them too, though some of them don’t even remotely ring a bell.
I know of or have experienced everything on the list except for one thing. What is emo/scene kid?
I swam in Duff and saw the bird lady numerous times over the years. I believe she is still walking around the falls but no longer has the bird coat.
We had a “bird lady” in Pittsburgh. what does yours do? Ours used to go on about the end of the world.
For years, she walked all over Niagara Falls wearing a yellow feather coat. On most days regardless of the weather she wore that coat. I never met her.
I always seen her near TGIF and Courtyard Marriott walking. Sometime Id see her between Dairy Queen and Super 8.
never seen nor heard of the bird lady, amazingly after going to nf so many times.
I have seen her mainly on Lundy’s Lane and Victoria Avenue
I never seen her yet, i’m always on lundy’s lane, though.
