From PR Web:
For travelers planning vacations or even weekend getaways, there are a multitude of new attractions to experience and enjoy. In Niagara USA, there’s more to experience than just the Falls, according to the Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation (www.niagara-usa.com). The NTCC will be launching a major advertising campaign dedicated to promoting the region’s benefits in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
NTCC offers 10 reasons for travelers to visit–or return–to Niagara USA, one of America’s most historic and naturally attractive travel destinations:
1.Niagara USA is rich in history. The Niagara region was an essential base of operations during three wars, and visitors can tour the recently restored Old Fort Niagara and dozens of museums and historic sites to discover the region’s history.
2.Niagara USA is for adventure lovers. Adventure lovers can dive beneath the turbulent waters of the Niagara River, take a Jet Boat tour through the Niagara Gorge, experience a helicopter ride over the Falls or experience the Falls from a hot-air balloon…

Wow, where to start with disagreement on that list huh?
Ill just avoid it and add reason # 11….its only seconds away from Niagara Falls, Canada!!
Rock on Niagara.
I actually STAYED on the American Side for the first time last year. I spent an afternoon taking photos at various vantage points and had a great time. The rest of the weekend was spent in the casino. Not much else to do!!! I don’t spend travel money for an AFTERNOON of fun. A weekend of fun - yes. Not an afternoon.
By contrast my mom and I just got back from a WEEKEND of girls’ bonding fun - contributing to the Canadian economy and enjoying ourselves. We maybe spent an hour actually gambling.
Come to think of it - maybe that’s why Canadian casinos are so scared of the american one.
I often wonder what its like for people who have never visited NF before, if they book on the American side what they think. Do they just drive over to the Canadian side and totally regret staying on the US side? Do they pack up and go to Canada? What on earth would a family do over a long weekend on the US side? I have got to believe that most people who dont live within driving distance to NF or have never visited must be shocked if they dont do good research before coming. I wonder how many visitors arent aware of the Good side (canadian) and the bad side (us) being so different?
….and to think, in a couple of years, they will never know UNLESS THEY HAVE A PASSPORT to get back into the U. S.!!!!
Might be sooner than a couple years
But yes thats a very scary thought. Ha, wow thats going to be the worst feeling ever looking over seeing “oz” but not being able to visit because of not having a passport. And being stuck @ love canal.
I know, that is what myself and many others are fearing. I keep going on and on about this but what is supporting the NF economy is the Canadian shoppers that are coming over the border and putting their money into our side of the border in various ways, malls, eating out, buying groceries etc. If we did not have Canadian shoppers I can see many of the businesses on this side of the border having to pack up and leave simply because they are not making enough from the people of this area to justify sticking around. Basically all we have is the Casino here and if that is not your thing you are going to be really disappointed.
Maybe they should have described it as if you are looking for a Tourist Trap with about a day’s worth of stuff to do if you shell out $$ and do everything on the American side Niagara USA is the perfect destination for you. If you want to continue your vacation, head over to Canada where you will find a wide variety of entertainment with something for everyone!
I try to warn everyone that is coming over about the lackluster American side but one person can only do so much.
If whoever is in charge of making important decisions on the us side was smart (its been proven they arent)…Wouldnt they try to build up the city as much as possible with this impending passport law?
I could say some things about the important people on this side of the border who are making the decisions but I won’t.. (you can find out if you do a little research, it doesn’t take much). Just look at the population of NF and you will see why there is nothing getting done here…
The truth is nothing is getting done and nothing ever will be done about it so either suck it up or leave the area… most people are choosing the latter..
