Montana’s street sign

As was mentioned in a previous comment, there was a new sign put up at the Montana’s on Victoria Avenue. When you were driving down the street, you wouldn’t know a Montana’s was there until you got to it as the only sign they had was flush against the building. They have put up a sign that is perpendicular to the building so that you can see it when you’re coming down the street.

Tourism season set to open with optimism - and concern

From the Niagara Falls Review:

The Maid of the Mist boats enter the water Thursday and the first passengers will feel the mist from the falls next week.

Traditionally, it’s the unofficial start of the new tourism season. But this year, the usual hope and optimism is mixed with caution and concern: Will this be the year tourism numbers rebound, or will American travellers continue to stay at home?

“We had a decrease in 2006, and are concerned about this becoming a trend in 2007,” said Maid of the Mist president Christopher Glynn.

“Niagara Falls tourism had experienced a slight recovery prior to the 2006 season. We continue to have major concerns about the proposed Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.”

Table Rock renovation gets muted response

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Stakeholders in the city’s tourism industry have offered a mixed response to the Niagara Parks Commission’s announcement last week it will spend $32 million on an upgrade to Table Rock House.

“Presumably they have done their homework and are upgrading (Table Rock) because they feel it requires it,” said Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce president Carolyn Bones, who admitted she hadn’t read a lot about the plans.
