From the Niagara Falls Review:
The Maid of the Mist boats enter the water Thursday and the first passengers will feel the mist from the falls next week.
Traditionally, it’s the unofficial start of the new tourism season. But this year, the usual hope and optimism is mixed with caution and concern: Will this be the year tourism numbers rebound, or will American travellers continue to stay at home?
“We had a decrease in 2006, and are concerned about this becoming a trend in 2007,” said Maid of the Mist president Christopher Glynn.
“Niagara Falls tourism had experienced a slight recovery prior to the 2006 season. We continue to have major concerns about the proposed Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.”
